Roadrunners defeat Moberly twice

April 23 Moberly Area Community College at Sedalia

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) baseball team defeated Moberly Area Community College 9-7 in a Missouri Community College Athletic Conference contest at home in Liberty Park Stadium-Dey Field on Tuesday, April 23.

Sophomore first baseman/third baseman Carter Jenkins led SFCC with three hits to go along with two RBIs and a run scored. Sophomore outfielder Logan Miller had two hits, two runs scored, an RBI and two steals. Freshman outfielder Caleb Briggs also added two hits, an RBI and a run scored. Briggs also recorded a stolen base. Freshman outfielder/first baseman Dayne Wimberly added a double, a run scored and an RBI. Freshman utility player/pitcher Dalton Miller drove in a run in the game. Wimberly, sophomore outfielder Sam Russo, sophomore pitcher/third baseman Jayden Little and freshman middle infielder Sam Paule each stole a base in the game. As a team, SFCC registered 10 hits.

Sophomore pitcher Andrew Brakensiek got the start and gave up four runs, (one earned run) on three hits, struck out five and walked one in five innings of work to earn the victory. Sophomore pitcher Jacob House pitched the final inning for SFCC to earn the save. House gave up one run on three hits.

April 24 Moberly Area Community College at Moberly

SFCC (24-26) defeated Moberly Area Community College 8-0 in seven innings in Moberly on Wednesday, April 24. The game was part of the Missouri Community College Athletic Conference schedule for both teams.

Wimberly paced the SFCC offense with a double and a home run, two runs scored and three RBIs. Dalton Miller added a pair of hits, including a home run, two RBIs and a run scored, and a stolen base. Little had a pair of hits and a run scored in the game. Sophomore outfielder Caleb Casto contributed a pair of hits, including a triple, two runs scored and an RBI. Freshman catcher Beck Jones added a hit, a run scored and an RBI.

Freshman pitcher Jackson Forck got the start on the mound and gave up four hits and struck out four in five innings, to earn the SFCC victory.
