Roadrunners close regular season with sweep

April 27 Mineral Area College at Park Hills, Missouri

SFCC split a Region 16 and Missouri Community College Athletic Conference doubleheader against Mineral Area College, dropping game one 5-3 before coming back to win game two 13-11 on Wednesday, April 27 in Park Hills.

In game one, the SFCC offense was held to only six hits as a team. Sophomore infielder Drake Miller hit a home run. Sophomore infielder Austin Warkins contributed a double and a run scored. Sophomore infielder Brandon Stahlman also had an RBI.

Freshman pitcher Chase Carson got the start and pitched four innings, allowed four runs (one earned) on four hits, and struck out six. Christian Whiting pitched the final two innings, allowed one run on one hit.

SFCC got the offense going in game two with 13 runs on 12 hits. Warkins had a pair of hits including a double, and a team-leading four runs scored. Sophomore catcher/outfielder Zach Dillman also had a pair of hits including a double, three RBIs and two runs scored. Sophomore outfielder/infielder Jacob McWhirter also had a pair of hits and three RBI. Sophomore catcher Hamilton Anderson had a pair of hits and two RBI. Miller also had a pair of RBI. Stahlman had an RBI.

Freshman pitcher Jack Lawton got the start and pitched one inning, gave up four runs on four hits, and struck out one. Freshman Ben Haug pitched three innings in relief and gave up two runs (one earned) on four hits. Freshman pitcher Zach Buschschulte pitched two innings, allowed two runs on three hits. Sophomore pitcher Antonio Escano pitched three innings to finish the game, gave up three runs (no earned runs), and struck out four.

May 1 Three Rivers Community College at Sedalia

SFCC (22-22) swept a Region 16 and Missouri Community College Athletic Conference doubleheader with Three Rivers Community College 6-2 and 7-5 at home to close the regular season on Sunday, May 1.

Warkins led the Roadrunners with a pair of hits including a home run, a run scored, and four RBI. Miller also had a pair of hits and a run scored. Anderson and sophomore outfielder Zeke Henson also contributed an RBI each in the game.

Escano got the start and pitched four innings, allowed one hit, struck out five, and walked two. Whiting pitched the final two innings, gave up two runs (one earned) on three hits, and walked two.

In game two, freshman infielder Conlan Downey had a pair of hits including a double, to go along with two runs scored. Anderson had a hit and scored three runs. Warkins, sophomore infielder Brayden McGinnis, and Henson had a double each in the game. Miller, Warkins, and McWhirter had two RBI each. Henson added one RBI.

Lawton got the start and pitched 4 1/3 innings, gave up four runs (three earned), on six hits. Sophomore pitcher Roy Holcomb pitched two-thirds of an inning, giving up one hit, with a walk, and a strikeout. Buschschulte pitched the final four innings, gave up three hits, one unearned run, two walks, and three strikeouts.
