Roadrunners baseball wins three of four games against Metropolitan Community College

April 4 Metropolitan Community College at Sedalia

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners swept a doubleheader from Metropolitan Community College by scores of 5-1 and 10-1 in seven innings at Liberty Park Stadium-Dey Field on Thursday, April 4 in Sedalia.

In game one, sophomore outfielder Logan Miller led the SFCC offensive attack with a pair of hits, including a double. Logan Miller scored two runs, drove in one, and stole a base. Sophomore outfielder Sam Russo had two hits and drove in a run. Sophomore first baseman/third baseman Carter Jenkins also drove in a run. Freshman outfielder/first baseman Dayne Wimberly had one stolen base.

Sophomore pitcher Carter DeGondea went the distance for SFCC and allowed one run on five hits, struck out six and walked one in seven innings, to secure the victory.

In game two, sophomore pitcher/third baseman Jayden Little registered two hits, including a home run Little scored twice and had a pair of RBIs. Freshman utility player/pitcher Dalton Miller had a pair of hits, including a double, two RBIs and a run scored. Sophomore third baseman Eli Cheaney also had a pair of hits, two runs scored and a run batted in. Jenkins recorded a double, drove in two runs and scored one. Wimberly added a hit, an RBI and a run scored. As a team, the SFCC offense registered eight hits. Cheaney and freshman catcher Malichi Antle each stole a base in the game.

Chase Schnieders pitched the complete seven innings and allowed one unearned run on four hits, and struck out two.

April 6 Metropolitan Community College at Kansas City

SFCC (19-20, 8-12 in Region 16) split a pair of Region 16 games winning the first game 9-1 before losing the second game 9-1 in seven innings on Saturday, April 6 in Kansas City.

In game one, Jenkins led SFCC with three hits, including a double, three RBIs and a run scored. Logan Miller added a double and a home run, an RBI and three runs scored. Wimberly had a pair of hits, including a double and two runs scored. Freshman outfielder Caleb Briggs contributed a pair of hits, including a triple, and two RBIs. Russo and freshman middle infielder Sam Paule each drove in a run in the game. Russo also stole a base in the game.

Sophomore pitcher Tait Robertson got the start for SFCC and gave up one run on five hits, struck out seven and walked three in seven innings to earn the victory.

In game two, the SFCC offense was held to only one run on three hits. Little had a pair of hits. Dalton Miller recorded a triple and a run scored. Logan Miller had the only RBI of the contest for SFCC.

Sophomore pitcher Keith Piepmeier got the start for SFCC and gave up eight runs (four earned runs) on six hits, struck out one and walked one in 5 2/3 innings. Piepmeier was charged with the pitching loss.
