Lady Roadrunners compete at William Woods

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners golf team had two individuals compete at the William Woods University Spring Invitational at Tanglewood Golf Course in Fulton on Monday and Tuesday, March 25-26. The event was shortened to 18 holes because of heavy rain in the area.

Freshman Ava Kirkpatrick finished tied for 33rd, with a score of 90. Freshman Marlee Andrews finished tied for 46th, with a score of 101.

"It was two of the most uncomfortable days I've ever seen people play golf," said Head Coach Wayne Ogle. "The rain completely saturated all of the golfers and the course for three hours before they suspended play. The rain went away overnight, and the temperature dropped as the wind shifted. It was extremely cold for the remainder of the round. Most players played nine holes in the rain and nine holes in the cold and the wind. Our players did a great job of not letting the weather defeat them, and I believe they have a new understanding of the game. I told them multiple times that weather doesn't matter in tournament play. There will always be players who figure out how to shoot a score."
