Lady Roadrunners compete at Midwest Classic

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners golf team finished 20th at the Midwest Classic hosted by the University of Central Missouri at the par 70 Mules National Golf Club in Warrensburg Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 16-17.

As a team, SFCC shot 391 in the opening round and 399 in round two, for a team total of 790.

Ava Kirkpatrick recorded the best finish for SFCC with an opening round 86 and 110 in the second round for a total of 196 to finish 106th. Hannah LeGrant finished 107th with scores of 98 and 99 for a total of 197. Alena Scrogham finished 108th with scores of 102 and 96 for a total of 198. Amelia Morris finished 109th with scores of 105 and 94 for a total of 199. Marlee Andrews finished 111th with scores of 114 and 125 for a total score of 239.

The event consisted of competition mainly from the NCAA Division II.

"It was a rough tournament," said Lady Roadrunners Head Coach Chris Guffey. "After a long layoff, we definitely showed a lot of rust. The ladies were nervous. Today is a new day and we start preparing for the last tournament of the fall season, the Roadrunner Invitational."

SFCC will return to action Monday and Tuesday Oct. 23-24 at the Sedalia Country Club.
