Four Lady Roadrunners earn post-season recognition

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners basketball team is coming off one of the most successful seasons in recent memory for the program. The season, which ended with 22 wins and a trip to the Region 16 Tournament Championship game, has led to four Lady Roadrunners earning postseason accolades and a Sportsmanship Award from the Missouri Community College Athletic Conference. The awards are voted on by the coaches in the conference and the region.

Sophomore center Jaida Shipp of Dallas, Texas has been named to the All-Region 16 First Team and the Missouri Community College Athletic Conference All-Conference First Team. Freshman guard Myra Claas of Tipton was also named to the All-Region 16 First Team and the Missouri Community College Athletic Conference All-Conference First Team. Freshman guard Madison Johnson of Harrisonville was named Missouri Community College Athletic Conference All-Conference Second Team along with freshman guard Kimora McClure of Austin, Texas.

Shipp played in 29 games, started in 17 as a sophomore for SFCC. Shipp finished first on the team in scoring and rebounds averaging 10.6 and 7.2 rebounds per game. Shipp shot 57.1 percent from the field to finish second on the team. Shipp scored a season-high 21 points against Moberly Area Community College on February 17. She pulled down a season-high 15 rebounds against Crowder College on January 27. Shipp scored double-figures in 18 games and had double-figure rebounds in six.

Claas started 27 of 28 games as a freshman and averaged 2.3 assists per game, a team best. Claas finished second in scoring averaging 10.3 points per game, shot 68.6 percent from the free-throw line, and pulled down 3.1 rebounds from the guard position. Claas scored a season-high 23 points in her first appearance as a Lady Roadrunner against Haskell Indian Nations University Junior Varsity and scored in double figures 17 times this season.

Johnson started in all 30 games as a freshman and averaged 5.7 points per game. Johnson led the team in steals with 1.5 per game. Johnson finished second on the team in assists with 2.2 per game. Johnson scored a season-high 14 points twice during her freshman campaign, once against Missouri Baptist University Junior Varsity and once against Moberly Area Community College. Johnson scored in double figures 6 times during her freshman campaign.

McClure played in 28 games and started five as a freshman at SFCC. McClure scored 6.6 points per game. McClure averaged 1.6 assists and one steal per game. McClure scored a season-high 21 points against Three Rivers Community College in the Region 16 Tournament Championship Game and scored in double figures 8 times during her freshman season.
