Women’s Basketball Recap March 22-28

March 22 Kansas City Kansas Community College at Sedalia

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners lost 94-58 to Kansas City Kansas Community College on Monday, March 22 inside the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center.

KCK led 18-16 at the end of the first quarter and stretched the lead to 41-31 at halftime. The Blue Devils took command of the game in the third quarter.

SFCC struggled from the free-throw line, going 11 of their 28 for the game and turned the ball over 19 times.

SFCC had two players in double-figure scoring. Freshman guard Eliyah Howard of Texarkana, Texas led the team in scoring with 13 points and three steals. Howard also tied for the team lead in assists with sophomore guard Briasia Garza of Houston, Texas registering two each. Freshman guard/forward Amaya Coakley of Killeen, Texas registered a double-double with 11 points and a team-high 15 rebounds.

March 24 Crowder College at Sedalia

SFCC lost a Region 16 matchup, 76-42 to Crowder College on Wednesday, March 24 inside the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center.

Crowder led 11-8 at the end of the first quarter and outscored the Lady Roadrunners 14-4 in the second quarter and never trailed the rest of the game.

Freshman guard/forward Donnisia Harrison of Chicago, Illinois led the team in scoring with 11 points. Howard chipped in with 10 points and a team-high two assists. Coakley had a team-high seven rebounds. Garza led the team in steals with five.

March 27 Moberly Area Community College at Moberly, Missouri

SFCC lost 101-38 to the 14th-ranked Moberly Area Community College Lady Greyhounds on Saturday, March 27. The game was part of the Region 16 and Missouri Community College Athletic Conference schedule for both teams.

Moberly took a 31-12 lead in the first quarter to take control of the contest. The Lady Greyhounds led 50-19 at halftime and 77-32 at the end of three quarters.

Freshman forward Ja'Kyah Amous of Chicago, Illinois led the team in scoring with 10 points.  Coakley and freshman guard Grace Goodwin of Sedalia tied for the team lead in rebounds with seven each. Howard dished out a team-high three assists.

March 29 St. Louis Community College at St. Louis, Missouri

SFCC (0-17, 0-14 in Region 16, 0-13 in the MCCAC) fell to the St. Louis Community College Lady Archers 68-53 on Sunday, March 28 in St. Louis, Missouri. The game was part of the Missouri Community College Athletic Conference schedule for both teams.

State Fair led 10-7 at the end of the first quarter. The Lady Archers outscored SFCC 21-10 in the second quarter to take a lead into halftime. St. Louis made the plays in the final two quarters to preserve the victory.

Harrison led the team in scoring with 18 points and a team-high nine rebounds. Harrison also dished out a team-high four assists. Amous led the team in steals with two. Goodwin contributed 10 points.
