Lady Roadrunners Basketball Recap March 17-20

March 17 Mineral Area College at Sedalia

The State Fair Community College Lady Roadrunners lost a Region 16 and Missouri Community College Athletic Conference game 61-53 to the Mineral Area College Lady Cardinals on Wednesday, March 17 inside the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center.

Mineral Area led 21-13 at the end of the first quarter and 32-23 at halftime. The Lady Cardinals made the plays down the stretch to secure the victory.

Freshman guard/forward Donnisia Harrison of Chicago, Illinois led SFCC in scoring with 10 points. Freshman guard/forward Tieriney Echols of Memphis, Tennessee had a team-high eight rebounds in the game. Sophomore guard Briasia Garza of Houston, Texas dished out a team-high two assists in the game and tied for the team lead in blocked shots with Echols registering two each. Freshman guard Eliyah Howard of Texarkana, Texas led the team in steals with three.

March 20 Three Rivers Community College at Poplar Bluff, Missouri

SFCC (0-13, 0-12 in Region 16, 0-10 in the MCCAC) lost a tough region/conference game 74-59  to the 11th ranked Three Rivers Community College Lady Raiders on Saturday, March 20 in Poplar Bluff.

SFCC jumped to a 6-0 with six minutes and 30 seconds remaining in the opening quarter. The Lady Raiders erased the deficit and led 23-11 by the end of one quarter. The Lady Roadrunners trimmed the advantage to 39-30 at halftime.

SFCC cut the advantage to four with under six minutes remaining in the third quarter. Three Rivers had an answer though, extending their lead to 55-47 at the end of three quarters. Three Rivers made the plays down the stretch to secure the victory.

Three Rivers forced 28 turnovers and converted them into 36 points. Echols led four Lady Roadrunners in double figures with 15 points and a team-high three steals. Howard added 13 points. Garza contributed 11 points. Freshman guard/forward Amaya Coakley of Killeen, Texas recorded a double-double with 10 points and a team-high 10 rebounds. Freshman guard/forward Ty'Raven Linwood of Mount Vernon, Texas led the team in blocked shots with two.
