Lady Roadrunners defeat Jefferson

The Lady Roadrunners (18-8, 7-2 in Region 16, 7-2 in the MCCAC) defeated the Jefferson College Lady Vikings 90-39 at home. The game was part of the "Pink Night" cancer awareness event hosted by the SFCC Athletic Department. The Lady Roadrunners wore pink jerseys. 

SFCC stormed out to an early 18-6 lead with less than four minutes remaining in the opening quarter. The Lady Roadrunners stretched the lead to 51-20 at halftime. 

"We got out in transition and played sound defense," said Head Coach Kevin Bucher. "We did a good job sharing the ball." 

The Lady Roadrunners were led in scoring by sophomore guard Ahjana Oakes with 17 points. Sophomore guard Alexis Cowan contributed 16 points and made four three-point shots. Freshman guard Maya Brewer added 12 points. Freshman guard Ren'Cia Rolling registered a double-double with 10 points and a team-high 13 assists. She also tied for the lead in steals with freshman center Grace Morrow with three each. Sophomore guard Danae' Cole pulled down a team-high nine rebounds.  Morrow led in blocked shots with three. 

The Lady Roadrunners shot 50.7 percent from the field and 36 percent from beyond the three-point arc.  SFCC held Jefferson to single digit scoring in two of the four quarters. Every Lady Roadrunner who played in the game scored. 

The Lady Roadrunners conclude the regular season schedule at 5 p.m. Feb. 25 against the Mineral Area College Lady Cardinals in Park Hills for another Region 16 and MCCAC game.
