Lady Roadrunners fall in District K Championship game

The Lady Roadrunners (22-8) saw their season come to an end with a 76-63 loss on Friday night, March 4, to the Lady Hawks of Northeast Community College in the NJCAA Division I District K Championship game in Norfolk, Nebraska. 

Freshman center Kendra Boone scored on an offensive rebound and put back to give SFCC an early lead. The Lady Hawks scored the next seven points to take control of the contest. SFCC struggled from the field shooting 29.6% for the contest. 

Northeast led 37-25 at halftime and pushed the advantage to 24 points with just over five minutes remaining in the third quarter. SFCC tried to fight their way back into the game, outscoring Northeast 24-19 in the final quarter, but it wasn't enough. 

Sophomore guard Zhanesha Dickerson led the Lady Roadrunners in scoring with 19 points in her final game at SFCC. Freshman guard Alexis Cowan added 14 points. Cowan also pulled down a team-high seven rebounds. Sophomore guard Sierra Clayborn dished out a team-high four assists in her final game as a Lady Roadrunner. Freshman guard Danae' Cole registered a team-high four steals.
