Lady Roadrunners defeat St. Louis Community College

The 19th ranked Lady Roadrunners picked up a nice bounce back win over the St. Louis Community College Archers on Tuesday night, Jan. 26, at the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center on the Sedalia campus. SFCC (18-4, 4-1 in the MCCAC) used a 10-0 run in the second quarter to take control of the contest and defeat St. Louis 82-66.

Sophomore guard Seara Clayborn led four Lady Roadrunners in double-figure scoring with 18 points. Sophomore forward Thelma "TuTu" Williams and sophomore guard Sierra Clayborn contributed 15 points each. Freshman guard Danae' Cole added 11 points. Williams and Cole tied for the team lead in rebounds with seven. Cole also dished out a team-high five assists and tied for the team lead in steals with freshman center Kendra Boone with three. Seara Clayborn led the team in blocked shots with two.

"We have a lot of different people who can score," said Lady Roadrunners Head Coach Kevin Bucher. "We still have areas we need to sharpen up, but it's nice to get the win here at home."

SFCC will have a 10-day break from game competition, but coaches and players plan to make good use of the time away.

"We are going to take a few days off," said Bucher. "We'll practice shooting, and I want the players to come back with renewed hunger and desire to play their top game. Coach Biddulph and I will do some recruiting. By the end of the break, I hope both the players and coaches come back refreshed and ready to finish the season strong."

The Lady Roadrunners will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 6, with a road trip to Poplar Bluff to take on Three Rivers Community College in a Region 16 and Missouri Community College Athletic Conference game. The game is the beginning of a four-game road trip for the Lady Roadrunners. Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
