Lady Roadrunners defeat Lady Greyhounds

The 21st ranked  State Fair Community College Lady Roadrunners made it two victories in a row at home on Wednesday, Jan. 13, by defeating the Moberly Area Community College Lady Greyhounds 75-61. SFCC (15-3, 2-0 in Region 16, 2-0 in the MCCAC) started the game with a 16-6 run. 

"We shot the ball really well," said Lady Roadrunners Head Coach Kevin Bucher. "We made it an up-tempo game." 

The Lady Greyhounds cut the advantage to 36-29 at halftime. SFCC responded with a 14-4 run to open the third quarter and to put the game away. 

"We hit some big shots to really extend the lead," said Bucher. "You could tell that it kind of got to Moberly a little bit." 

Sophomore guard Zhanesha Dickerson led three Lady Roadrunners in double-figure scoring with 20 points. Sophomore forward Thelma "TuTu" Williams contributed 15 points. Sophomore guard Sierra Clayborn added 14 points. Dickerson pulled down a team-high eight rebounds and also dished out a team-high four assists. Freshman center Kendra Boone led in blocked shots with two. Sophomore guard Ecenur Yurdakul led the team in steals with two. 

SFCC will continue their home stand on Saturday, Jan. 16, when they take on the Jefferson College Lady Vikings in another key region and conference game. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. in the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center on the Sedalia campus.
