Lady Roadrunners Win 11th Game in a Row

The 14th-ranked Lady Roadrunners (13-1) won their final home game of the semester 91-64 over the Southeastern Community College Lady Blackhawks from West Burlington, Iowa, Dec. 9 at the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center on the Sedalia campus. SFCC outscored Southeastern 27-12 in the third quarter to take control of the game.

"Southeastern was in foul trouble," said Lady Roadrunners Head Coach Kevin Bucher. "We also put two post players in the game in the third quarter, which helped us."

Freshman forward Kiante Johnson led four Lady Roadrunners in double-figure scoring with 17 points; she shot six of eight from the field and five of seven from the free-throw line. Freshman guard Alexis Cowan added a double double with 14 points and a team-high 10 rebounds, and also dished out a team-high eight assists. Sophomore guards Zhanesha Dickerson and Sierra Clayborn added 11 points each. Dickerson led the team in steals with three. Freshman center Kendra Boone led in blocked shots with two.

The Lady Roadrunners will finish the semester Dec. 11-12 with a pair of big games at the Battle on the Border in Joplin. SFCC will take on Northern Oklahoma College-Enid Friday, and Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College at 4 p.m. Saturday. "We have to play defense and rebound to be successful this weekend," said Bucher. "We're going to work on pressing and trapping to wear down our opponents so we're in the games at the end."
