Lady Roadrunners Defeat Jefferson College

The 17th-ranked Lady Roadrunners defeated the Jefferson College Lady Vikings 89-78 Jan. 17 in Hillsboro. The game was a Region 16 contest and part of the Missouri Community College Athletic Conference schedule.

SFCC (13-5, 3-0 in Region 16, 3-0 in the MCCAC) jumped out to an early 10-2 advantage courtesy of a hook shot from sophomore center Alecia Cooley.

The Lady Roadrunners led 49-34 at halftime. The Lady Vikings trimmed SFCC's advantage to 10 at 80-70 and SFCC made the plays down the stretch to secure the victory.

Cooley led the Lady Roadrunners with 23 points and 10 rebounds, earning another double double. Freshman guard/forward Zhanesha Dickerson contributed 22 points and freshman guard Maura Skidmore added 17 points. Dickerson, Cooley, sophomore guard Erin Boothe, and Skidmore tied for the team lead in steals with two. Four Lady Roadrunners tied for the team lead in assists with two each.

The Lady Roadrunners will return to action at 6 p.m. Jan. 21 when they take on the Crowder College Lady Roughriders in a Region 16 contest in Neosho.
