SFCC softball set to host a pair of special events

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners softball team will host a pair of events in conjunction with an upcoming weekend homestand. SFCC will host Family Day on Saturday, April 13 and Strikeout Cancer Day on Sunday, April 14, both events will take place at Mandy Thomas Field.

On Saturday, SFCC will recognize its sophomore class in conjunction with a Region 16 doubleheader against Metropolitan Community College. The first pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.

"We are going to invite our alumni and our signees to bring the past, present, and future of our program together," said Head Coach Michele Rupard. "We are also hoping for a big crowd for Sophomore Day."

On Sunday, the Lady Roadrunners will take on Mineral Area College in a Missouri Community College Athletic Conference doubleheader. First pitch scheduled for 1 p.m. At the games, the Lady Roadrunners will raise money for community members battling breast cancer.

"We will collect donations at all of our home games leading up to that day and on that day," said Rupard. "Then we will donate that money to community members battling breast cancer. We will also pass a bucket around to take donations during the game."
