Lady Roadrunners split four Region games

April 19 St. Charles Community College at Sedalia

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners split two Region 16 and Missouri Community College Athletic Conference games with St. Charles Community College, losing the first game 6-2 before coming back to win the second game 6-5 with pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh inning at Mandy Thomas Field in Sedalia on Friday, April 19.

In game one, the SFCC offense struggled to get on track. The Lady Roadrunners were held to four hits in the contest. Freshman middle infielder/outfielder Jordan Crooks had two hits and a run scored. Utility player Bailey Haselhorst and middle infielder/outfielder Emily Burke each recorded a hit. Outfielder Jaelyn Winfrey scored a run. Outfielder Becca Hall recorded an RBI.

Pitcher Charlee Reese went the distance for SFCC. Reese gave up six runs (four earned) on 12 hits, struck out five and walked two.

In game two, Crooks registered two hits, including a home run, two RBIs and a run scored. Hall had two hits. Haselhorst hit a home run, scored two runs and drove in one. Middle infielder Sami Picha hit a home run and drove in two runs. Catcher/third baseman Lia Hill registered a double and scored a run. First baseman/second baseman Danika Sickle stole a base.

Pitcher/utility player Aireanna Hoeppner got the start and gave up four runs on seven hits and struck out five in 4 1/3 innings. Pitcher Grace VanDenburgh came out in relief of Hoeppner to pick up the victory in 2 2/3 innings and gave up one run on two hits.

April 20 Crowder College at Neosho

SFCC (25-23, 15-11 in Region 16) split two Region 16 contests against Crowder college on Friday, April 20 in Neosho. SFCC lost the first game 9-5 before bouncing back to win game two 5-4.

In game one, Hall had two hits, including a double, two runs scored and an RBI. Burke doubled, drove in two runs, and scored one. Haselhorst doubled and scored a run. Sickle and third baseman Myla Inman each drove in a run. Picha had two hits.

VanDenburgh pitched 6 1/3 innings, gave up nine runs, (eight earned runs) on 10 hits, struck out four and walked four.

In game two, Sickle had two hits and an RBI. Hall had two hits, an RBI and a run scored. Winfrey doubled and scored a run. Picha registered a hit and scored twice. Catcher Paige Klinge, Hill and utility player Bella Ochoa drove in a run each.

Hoeppner pitched a complete game and gave up four runs, (one earned run) on six hits, struck out two and walked three.
