Lady Roadrunners bounce back with sweep

March 27 Jefferson College at Hillsboro, Missouri

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners lost a pair of Region 16 and Missouri Community College Athletic Conference games to Jefferson College 7-0 and 7-2 on Wednesday, March 27 in Hillsboro.

In game one, the SFCC offense was held to only one hit from outfielder Jaelyn Winfrey. SFCC struck out 15 times in the game.

Pitcher/utility player Aireanna Hoeppner got the start for SFCC and gave up seven runs (six earned runs), on 10 hits, struck out six and walked three in seven innings for the loss.

In game two, Winfrey contributed three hits, including a double. Utility player Bailey Haselhorst had a pair of hits. Middle infielder Sami Picha added two hits and an RBI. Third baseman Myla Inman hit a home run and drove in one run. Outfielder Becca Hall scored the other run for SFCC.

Pitcher Charlee Reese got the start for SFCC and gave up seven runs, (five earned runs) on eight hits, struck out two and walked three in 5 1/3 innings. Pitcher/first baseman Kiara Sodini came out of the bullpen to pitch two-thirds of an inning and gave up one hit.

March 29 North Central Missouri College at Sedalia

SFCC (15-17, 9-5) swept a pair of Region 16 contests 14-12 in comeback fashion in game one and 6-4 in game two at Mandy Thomas Field on Friday, March 29 in Sedalia.

In game one, SFCC scored eight runs in the bottom of the sixth to complete the comeback to earn the victory. The SFCC offense produced 14 runs on 17 hits. Picha led the offensive attack with three hits, including a double, three RBIs and two runs scored. Winfrey also contributed three hits, including two runs, an RBI and a stolen base. Hall also had three hits, an RBI and a run scored and stole a base. Haselhorst had two hits, including a double and three RBIs and scored three times. Catcher Paige Klinge had a pair of hits, including a home run, two RBIs and a run scored. Middle Infielder/outfielder Emily Burke had two hits, two runs scored and an RBI. Inman had a hit and an RBI. First baseman/second baseman Danika Sickle had a hit and scored twice.

Reese got the start for SFCC and gave up eight runs (seven earned runs) on five hits, walked five and struck out two in four innings. Sodini pitched three innings out of the bullpen, gave up four runs (three earned runs) on four hits, and walked two to earn the win in relief. Pitcher Grace VanDenburgh pitched the final inning to slam the door and help secure the victory.

In game two, Picha had a pair of hits, including a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored. Catcher/third baseman Lia Hill also had a pair of hits, including a double. Klinge recorded a double. Sickle also recorded a double and an RBI. Middle infielder/outfielder Jordan Crooks also had a double. Haselhorst had a hit, scored three times, and stole two bases. Winfrey hit a home run and drove in a pair of runs.

Hoeppner went the distance in the circle for SFCC. Hoeppner gave up four runs (three earned runs) on seven hits, struck out two and walked one.
