Lady Roadrunners sweep Three Rivers

March 5 Three Rivers Community College at Sedalia

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners (6-10, 2-0 in Region 16) opened their Region 16 and Missouri Community College Athletic Conference schedule with a doubleheader sweep of Three Rivers Community College, 10-9 in eight innings and 17-4 in five innings at Mandy Thomas Field. The doubleheader was SFCC's home opener.

In game one, third baseman Myla Inman and outfielders Becca Hall and Jaelyn Winfrey each registered three hits. Hall also scored a run and stole a base. Winfrey added two RBIs, a run scored, and a stolen base. Inman had a home run, an RBI, and a run scored. Middle infielder Sami Picha added two hits and scored one run. Pitcher/first baseman Kiara Sodini added a double and an RBI. Utility player Bailey Haselhorst hit a home run and drove in a run. Catcher Paige Klinge hit a home run and drove in a run. First baseman/second baseman Danika Sickle hit a home run, drove in four runs, and stole a base. Utility player Bella Ochoa also stole a base in the game.

Pitcher Charlee Reese got the start and pitched 6 2/3 innings, gave up nine runs (seven earned runs) on eight hits, walked six and struck out six. Sodini came out of the bullpen to pitch 1 1/3 innings, gave up one hit, struck out one and walked one.

In game two, the SFCC offense continued their momentum from game one, compiling 17 runs on 17 hits. Hall had three hits, including a home run and a triple, to go along with four RBIs and a stolen base. Middle infielder/outfielder Emily Burke also had three hits, including a double, an RBI and two runs scored. Haselhorst added a pair of hits, including a home run, an RBI and two runs scored. Klinge hit a pair of home runs, four RBIs and two runs scored. Winfrey had a pair of hits, a run scored and a stolen base. Sickle had a pair of hits, including a double and two runs scored. Inman added a pair of hits, two RBIs and two runs scored. Middle infielder/outfielder Jordan Crooks hit a home run, drove in four runs, and scored twice. Crooks also stole a base.

Pitcher/utility player Aireanna Hoeppner went the distance for SFCC and  gave up four runs on six hits, struck out one and walked four.
