Williams Announces Future Plans

State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners freshman second baseman Taylor Williams of Rogersville has decided to continue her academic and athletic career at Southwest Baptist University (SBU) in Bolivar.  SBU is a Division II university in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. She will sign a national letter of intent and be a freshman next year at SBU because spring sports student-athletes were granted an extra year of eligibility, due to the majority of the spring season being canceled as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"She is a scrappy kid who will give you production at the plate," said Lady Roadrunners Softball Head Coach Lyndsey Talbot. "She is a very solid defender. I see her remaining at second base at that level."

Williams had a team-high 54 at-bats and played in all 14 games in her only season at SFCC. She tied for the team lead in doubles with three. Williams finished second on the team in hits with 19 and home runs with three. Williams also finished second on the team with 16 RBI and had a batting average of .352  for the year.

"She was definitely a leader for us," said Talbot. "She was a quiet kid on the field, but she was going to be the one who was always diving and doing the right thing. She was a big time leader for us."
