May 3 North Central Missouri College at Kansas City, Missouri

The fourth-seeded State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners opened play in the Region 16 Division I Softball Tournament losing to the fifth-seeded North Central Missouri College Pirates from Trenton, Missouri 6-3 at the Urban Youth Academy in Kansas City, Missouri.

SFCC was led offensively by sophomore pitcher/first baseman Madison Love who hit a home run, drove in a run and scored a run. She also drew a walk. Sophomore infielder Abby Rector of Raytown had a pair of hits in the game, including a double and drove in a run. Freshman utility player Reagan Hockett of Sedalia registered a hit. Sophomore outfielder Jacki Watson of Raytown scored a run and walked three times. Sophomore utility player Emily Wilson of Oak Grove drove in a run and scored a run. Freshman pitcher/infielder Alissa Collette of Strafford walked twice.

"We struggled offensively during the Region Tournament," said Lady Roadrunners Softball Head Coach Lyndsey Talbot. "We had runners on against North Central; we just couldn't get a timely hit."

Love went the distance in the circle for SFCC. She allowed six runs, only two of which were earned on seven hits. She struck out six and was given the pitching loss.

May 4 Jefferson College at Kansas City, Missouri

The fourth-seeded State Fair Community College Lady Roadrunners saw their season come to an end on Saturday, May 4 in the Region 16 Division I Softball Tournament losing to the third-seeded Jefferson College Vikings from Hillsboro, Missouri at the Urban Youth Academy in Kansas City, Missouri. SFCC fell by a score of 9-0, the game ended in five innings because of the run rule.

The SFCC offense was held to one hit, a single by Wilson, in her final game at SFCC. Sophomore catcher/infielder Lauren Watkins of Columbia also reached base when she was hit by pitch in her final game at SFCC.

"The starting pitcher that Jefferson threw against us had our number," said Talbot.

Love went the distance in the circle for SFCC in her final game as a Lady Roadrunner. She gave up nine runs, eight of which were earned on six hits. She struck out six and walked seven. She was given the pitching loss.

Talbot is proud of the legacy left by her sophomores.

"Our sophomore class has been huge," said Talbot. "They've done things the right way. They are an extremely competitive group. You can tell that the games, the team, and the season meant a lot to them. Every year they have been a part of our program they have rewritten the record book. They have left a huge mark on our program. They're going to be some big holes to fill, not just on the field but off the field with the leadership that we are going to lose."

SFCC finishes the season 26-24. The 26 wins is the most in program history.
