Men’s soccer recap Oct. 10

Oct. 10, Metropolitan Community College-Blue River at Sedalia

The Roadrunners lost 2-1 to the Metropolitan Community College-Blue River Trail Blazers in a non-region match. The weather was rainy and cold.

The match was scoreless at halftime, but Blue River scored with 38 minutes, 40 seconds remaining in the second half to take a 1-0 lead. The Trail Blazers extended the advantage to 2-0 with less than 23 minutes left.

With about 12 minutes on the clock, freshman defender Alois Buchillet scored. The goal was Buchillet's second in this season.

"That was a good goal," said Head Coach Jaime Beltran. "We had other opportunities, so the game could have gone either way. It wasn't a bad game, but it wasn't a good outcome. We had five of our backups in at all times. The elements also made a difference. We are a team that likes to pass the ball, and it was difficult to pass the ball today."

Freshman forward Buhirwa Issa recorded two shots, one on goal during the match. As a team, SFCC had seven shots in the match with five on goal. Freshman goalkeeper Josh Kunkelmanrecorded seven saves.

The Roadrunners record currently stands at 8-8-1 on the year.
