Roadrunners fall In Region 16 tournament

The Roadrunners soccer team traveled to St. Louis to take on the ninth-ranked St. Louis Community College Archers in the quarterfinal round of the Region 16 men's soccer tournament. SFCC (3-12-1) fell by a score of 4-1, ending the first season since the resumption of the program.

St. Louis got on the scoreboard in about the 24th minute of the opening half. The Archers added another goal five minutes later to make the score 2-0.

Freshman forward Omar Hayes put SFCC on the scoreboard with a goal off an assist from freshman midfielder Logan Horn

"Logan played the ball into Omar from about 40 yards out," said Roadrunners Soccer Head Coach Eddie Horn. "Omar took the ball in on a breakaway and beat the goalkeeper."

St. Louis added a pair of second half goals to provide the winning margin.

"Our players kept competing," said Horn. "While it was a long season, at the end we were playing our best soccer. The players did a nice job of staying the course."

Coach Horn has specific areas in which he knows his team needs to improve in the off-season.

"We need to get better technically," said Horn. "We need to get bigger, stronger and faster in the off-season and continue to improve on our fundamentals."
