Roadrunners fall to St. Louis Community College

The Roadrunners played host to St. Louis Community College Archers in a Missouri Community College Athletic Conference match on Sunday, Oct. 9. SFCC (3-8-1, 1-3 in the MCCAC) lost a hard-fought 3-1 decision.

The Archers got on the scoreboard first in the opening half and took that advantage into halftime. With about 10 minutes remaining in the second half, the Archers gained a second point courtesy of an own goal. SFCC responded with a goal from freshman defender Yusef Shone to pull his team within one. St. Louis scored again with about three minutes remaining to put the game away.

"Overall, I was pleased with the way that we played today," said Roadrunners Head Soccer Coach Eddie Horn. "We had a couple quality chances in the first half. The goal from Yusef was a great individual effort. It was a much more competitive game than the first time we played against them. We continue to improve and are learning what it takes to be successful."

SFCC will host Metropolitan Community College-Blue River in a Region 16 match at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11 at the Sports Complex west of the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center.
