Trailblazers defeat Roadrunners

The SFCC Roadrunners traveled to Godfrey, Illinois, on Sunday, Oct. 2, to take on the Lewis and Clark Community College Trailblazers. SFCC (3-7-1) fell by a score of 3-1.

The Trailblazers got on the scoreboard first with a goal at the 31-minute, 52- second mark of the first half. SFCC tied the game on a goal from freshman midfielder Luke Kuol on an assist from freshman midfielder Jesus Carlos. The score was tied at one at halftime.

"The match was decided in the last 15 minutes," said Roadrunners Soccer Head Coach Eddie Horn. "It was a competitive and spirited game. We gave up a goal in the last 15 minutes and then gave up another goal trying to tie the game with about six minutes left. The encouraging thing about the match was that we played really well. Last season Lewis and Clark was a national tournament team. We are getting better and learning what it takes to compete at this level."

The Roadrunners will return home on Sunday, Oct. 9, at 4 p.m. for a Missouri Community College Athletic Conference match against St. Louis Community College. The Lady Roadrunners will play Indian Hills Community College at 2 p.m. before the men's game.
