Roadrunners defeat Missouri Valley

The Roadrunners snapped their three-match losing streak with a 3-0 victory over the Missouri Valley College JV on Sept. 18. SFCC (2-5-1) got on the board first with an own goal from MVC at the 13-minute mark of the opening half.

Freshman midfielder Gire Ngezahayo extend the advantage to 2-0 in the 30th minute. Ngezahayo scored another unassisted goal in the 56th minute to finish the scoring. Coach Horn was pleased with several of the players performances against MVC.

"Gire performed well," said Horn. "He is leading the team in scoring. His work ethic was better in the front third of the field against Missouri Valley than it was against Crowder. Everyone is starting to get better and feel more comfortable. We made a few position changes with Jacob Bogler and Max Martin. Those guys played well at their new positions."

Freshman goalkeeper Remington Hayes got the start in goal for SFCC. He played the full 90 minutes for the Roadrunners making six saves and recording the shutout.

The Roadrunners will return home for a Region 16 match against Metropolitan Community College-Maple Woods at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 22 at the Sports Complex west of the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center.
