Roadrunners drop match to East Central

The State Fair Community College Roadrunners traveled to Union on Monday, Aug. 29, to take on East Central College in another Region 16 and Missouri Community College Athletic Conference match. SFCC (1-2, 1-2 in Region 16, 1-1 in the MCCAC) dropped a hard fought 3-2 decision in the final minutes.  

East Central scored in the fourth minute to take the early lead. Roadrunners freshman midfielder Gire Ngezahayo took a pass from freshman midfielder Omar Hayes to tie the game in the 48th minute.  East Central took the lead again in the 56th minute. Roadrunners freshman midfielder Brock Nolting fired a shot from outside the box to tie the score again off an assist from Ngezahayo.

 East Central scored the game-winning goal in the 86th minute and held on to secure the victory. East Central is receiving votes in the NJCAA Division I Men's Soccer Preseason Rankings. 

SFCC will open the home portion of their schedule at 2 p.m. Sept. 10 at the Sports Complex west of the Davis Multipurpose Center against Murray State College.
