St. Louis Community College defeats SFCC

The State Fair Community College Roadrunners traveled to St. Louis on Thursday, Aug. 25, to take on St. Louis Community College-Florissant Valley. SFCC (1-1, 1-1 in Region 16, 1-0 in the Missouri Community College Athletic Conference) lost by a score of 5-0.

St. Louis Community College got on the scoreboard with a pair of first half goals and added three more in the second half.

"St. Louis Community College is a very good team," said Roadrunners Head Soccer Coach Eddie Horn. "They are a mature team with a lot of players back from last year. They are a team that has a physical presence. We made a couple mistakes in the first half, which are easily correctable. There were moments in the game where our guys just took too long to play. They are not use to the speed of the game. Those things will go away as we adjust. We were able to create some chances and played well in the first half. In the big picture, the game was a lot more competitive than the score indicated."

SFCC will close out its season opening three-match road trip with a Region 16 and MCCAC match at East Central College in Union at 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 29. East Central is receiving votes in the NJCAA Division I Men's Preseason Soccer Rankings.
