Lady Roadrunners sign Cardenas

State Fair Community College Lady Roadrunners Basketball Head Coach Kevin Bucher has announced the addition of Mackenzie Cardenas. The Pasadena, Texas, native is a 5'8'' guard who played at Pasadena Memorial High School for Head Coach Michelle Steele. She has signed a National Letter of Intent.

Cardenas earned first team all-district and team most valuable player honors as a senior. She also earned the Miss Basketball Award and was the runner-up for all-district Most Valuable Player.

Cardenas averaged 12.5 points while playing in 29 games as a senior. She pulled down 7.8 rebounds and registered 2.6 steals per game and shot 72 percent from the free-throw line.

"Mackenzie is an excellent shooter and ball handler," said Bucher. "She can pull up and shoot the three-point shot; her skills will fit nicely into our pressing and running style of play. She comes from a large school and understands the mechanics of competing."

Cardenas also earned the Hall of Fame Pasadena District Scholarship and the Daniel Vanderbrink Scholarship. She plans to study education.
