Title: Assistant Coach

Matt Clark is in his third season as an Assistant Cross Country Coach at State Fair Community College. Clark brings an impressive resume, both as a professional and collegiate athlete, as well as college and high school coaching to his position.

Clark helped the Lady Roadrunners and Roadrunners teams qualify for the NJCAA Division II National Championships in the programs’ first season. The men’s team finished 25th at the event.

Clark previously coached track and field and cross country at Smith-Cotton High School. He has also coached at LaMonte High School and Buffalo High School. He spent four years as an assistant track and cross country coach at the University of Central Missouri. He holds USA Track and Field level one and two certifications.

After a standout high school career in cross country and track and field, Clark continued his career at Missouri State University, where he was named All-Missouri Valley three times, along with All-Midwest Regional in 1995. He was a team captain in 1994 and 1995. Clark holds the school record in the 4 mile and was voted to the All-Decade Team 1990-2000 by the Missouri Valley Conference.

Clark also earned All-Conference Honors in the Missouri Valley Conference on the track in 1994 and 1995. He was part of a school record in the 4x1500m relay.

Clark competed as a professional in the steeplechase and 5K run from 1995-1998. He also competed in the summer of 1995 and 1996 in Europe for Athletes in Action.

Clark holds a bachelor of science degree in Education in Exercise Science from Missouri State University.
