Lady Roadrunners win Region Championship

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners claimed spots two through seven en route to the Region 16 Division II Cross Country Championship on Friday, Oct. 27. For the first time in the history of the program, SFCC hosted the event at Smith-Cotton High School in Sedalia.

Tanner Maggard finished second and recorded the best time for the Lady Roadrunners. Maggard covered the 5K course in a time of 21:00.61. Shelby West finished third with a time of 22:39.60. Adamaris Ramirez claimed fourth with a time of 24:07.88. Cheyanne Evans finished fifth with a time of24:40.63. Savanna Tracy finished sixth in a time of 24:53.77. Emily Ramirez finished seventh with a time of 27:23.98.

"Our women's team came into the meet motivated and excited for multiple reasons," said Assistant Coach Cooper Pauley. "One of them was that we were healthy enough to put a full team on the line for the first time in six weeks. They got out well the first time but took a more conservative start due to the back half of our course being very hilly. Their smart approach paid off as our athletes raced well the last two miles."

Maggard and West earned All-Region recognition for the Lady Roadrunners.
