Sept. 4 Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College at Miami, Oklahoma

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners traveled to Miami, Oklahoma on Wednesday, Sept. 4 to take on the Northeastern Oklahoma (NEO) A&M College Lady Norse. SFCC lost a hard-fought 1-0 game in double overtime. The Lady Norse scored off of a free kick from about 25 yards out to win the game after SFCC committed a foul.

"I feel like we did some good things," said Lady Roadrunners Associate Head Coach Dan Martin. "We held them scoreless for 90 minutes. We were able to create some chances, but we just didn't finish. We weren't able to link our passes together. There was some panic in the game where I felt like we should have been composed."

Sophomore Samantha Curphey of Raymore, Missouri took a team-leading four shots. Sophomore defender Sydney Rickel of Lee's Summit, Missouri and sophomore forward Hannah Chapman of Warsaw, Missouri all registered three shots.

Sept. 7 St. Louis Community College at Sedalia

SFCC opened the home portion of their schedule on Saturday, Sept. 7 at the Fred E. Davis Sports Complex. The Lady Roadrunners fell by a score of 3-0 to the St. Louis Community College Archers in the Region 16 opener for SFCC.

St. Louis got on the scoreboard first with a goal off of a corner kick with less than 19 minutes remaining in the opening half. The Archers added another goal with about six minutes remaining in the half to take a 2-0 lead into halftime. They finished the scoring with another goal with less than 34 minutes remaining in the game.

SFCC (0-7, 0-1 in Region 16) took 11 shots, seven on goal. Freshman defender Maleah Ray of Columbia, Missouri took a team-high three shots.

Sophomore goalkeeper Atziry Plascencia of El Paso, Texas got the start in the net for SFCC. She recorded three saves. Curphey finished the game in goal for SFCC. She recorded two saves.

"I was actually happy with the way we started the game," said Martin. "I felt like we were prepared, but we had to play from behind again. We struggle to get ahead of teams, that is something we continue to work on. We have to start games with more aggression. We just can't wait until we're down, that is one of the things that we're trying to figure out. I feel like we are making progress."

SFCC will return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 11 for another important Region 16 match against Metropolitan Community College. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
