Sept. 19, Metropolitan Community College-Blue River at Independence

In a Region 16 match, the Lady Roadrunners were defeated by Metropolitan Community College-Blue River Trail Blazers 4-0. Blue River scored with 20 minutes remaining the opening half and added three goals in the second half to claim the victory. Sophomore defender Morgan Coffmanand sophomore midfielder Grace Franke each recorded a shot on goal for SFCC.

"The game against Blue River was close in the first half," said Head Coach Jaime Beltran. "Our lack of depth hurt us in second half. It was a very hot, humid day. The reason that we were able to stay with them was that we were playing a very high pressure system; unfortunately, we just ran out of gas."

Sept. 24, Central Methodist University at Sedalia

The Lady Roadrunners hosted the Central Methodist University Eagles on Sunday and won the match 2-0, scoring the goals in the second half. Freshman midfielder Karina Esquivel scored on a free kick from just outside the 18-yard box with about 12 minutes remaining in the match. Sophomore forward Tiffany Wehmeyer put the game away when she scored off a breakaway pass courtesy of sophomore midfielder Grace Franke with about two minutes remaining in the match.

Wehmeyer led with seven shots. As a team, SFCC registered 18 shots and three on goal. Freshman goalkeeper Trinity Sigler nine saves to record the shutout.

"We knew that Central Methodist liked to pass the ball around and try to find gaps," said Head Coach Jaime Beltran. "They like to stretch you out. Our game plan was to not let them do that. We wanted to have our players playing solid and organized. We wanted to use our counterattack. The gaps started to open up more and more as the game went on, and we were able to take advantage. I was really proud of the way the girls took on the new system, worked on it and today it paid dividends."

The Lady Roadrunners record currently stands at 3-7-1, 1-2 in Region 16.
