Women's soccer game story Aug. 31 to Sept. 2

Aug. 31, Barton Community College at Sedalia, Missouri

The Lady Roadrunners opened the home portion of their season against the Barton Community College Cougars from Great Bend, Kansas. Both teams played well defensively. The match ended 0-0 after two overtime periods.

SFCC recorded five shots and three shots on goal in the match. Freshman goalkeeper Jessica Coble made one save in the game.

"We definitely had opportunities to win the match," said Head Coach Jaime Beltran. "The girls played well, and Barton is the best team that we have played against so far. It was a great team effort. Jessica Coble did a great job in goal. We played well in possession and in the middle. We just have to find someone to put the ball away in the offensive third of the field."

Sept. 2, Iowa Central Community College at Sedalia, Missouri

The Lady Roadrunners took on the Iowa Central Community College Tritons from Fort Dodge. Both teams had opportunities in the opening half, but SFCC fell in the match 1-0. Iowa Central found the back of the net with less than 37 minutes remaining in the second half.

Sophomore forward Tiffany Wehmeyer registered four shots in the match. Freshman goalkeepers Jessica Coble and Trinity Sigler split time in the goal for SFCC. Coble recorded two saves and Sigler stopped four shots.

"We have to learn to take advantage of our opportunities when they come," said Head Coach Jaime Beltran. "The game punishes you sometimes when you don't."

The Lady Roadrunners record currently stands at 1-2-1 on the season.
