SFCC softball season ends at Region 16 Tournament

May 7 Three Rivers Community College at Maryville University St. Louis Missouri

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners fell 7-3 in the opening round of the Region 16 Tournament on Saturday, May 7. The tournament was delayed two days because of rain and the opening round was moved to St. Louis.

Three Rivers scored four runs in the bottom of the second inning, before SFCC countered with three runs in the top of the fifth. Three Rivers added three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Sophomore first baseman Alexis Gilliland had two hits, including a double and two RBI to lead SFCC. Freshman Rylee Hagens also had a double to go along with a run. Sophomore catcher/second baseman Haley Mackey scored a run. Sophomore second baseman/third baseman Kelsey Webb scored a run and added an RBI.

Freshman pitcher Kennidi Harris pitched a complete game and gave up seven runs (six earned) on nine hits and three walks.

May 8 St. Charles Community College St. Charles, Missouri

SFCC used a 2-1 victory over St. Charles Community College in St. Charles to remain alive in the Region 16 Tournament on Sunday, May 8.

Freshman Alexis Hughes had two hits and Mackey had a double and one run scored. Freshman Hallie Russell also scored, while Webb and freshman Kailei Allen each had an RBI.

Harris pitched 5 1/3 innings, allowed no runs on five hits and struck out four. Hughes pitched 1 2/3 innings, allowed one run on one hit and walked three.

May 9 North Central Missouri College St. Charles, Missouri

SFCC (13-30) saw its season end with an 8-2 loss to North Central Missouri College in the Region 16 Tournament in St. Charles on Monday morning, May 9.

SFCC got on the scoreboard in the top of the first inning and scored again in the second inning, but North Central responded with three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and five more in the bottom of the fifth inning for the win.

Mackey registered two hits in the game. Webb added a double. Hagens had an RBI. Mackey and freshman Jacqueline Klein each scored.

Sophomore pitcher Sadie Kumm got the start and pitched three innings, allowed two runs on four hits and walked one. Harris pitched the final three innings, gave up six runs (three earned) on seven hits and struck out one.
