SFCC closes regular season with split

May 1 Jefferson College at Sedalia

The State Fair Community College Lady Roadrunners (12-28) finished the regular season schedule with a Region 16 and Missouri Community College Athletic Conference doubleheader split against the Jefferson College Lady Vikings from Hillsboro on Sunday afternoon, May 1 at Mandy Thomas Field inside Centennial Park. SFCC dropped the first game 2-1, before bouncing back to win game two 10-2 in five innings because of the run rule.

In game one, sophomore second/third third baseman Kelsey Webb had two hits and an RBI. Sophomore catcher/second baseman Haley Mackey had one hit. Freshman Lauren Strange scored the only run of the contest for SFCC.

Freshman pitcher Kennidi Harris went the distance in the circle for SFCC. Harris allowed two runs (one earned) on six hits and struck out six.

In game two, SFCC got their offense rolling with four runs in the bottom of the first inning. SFCC added three runs in the bottom of the second inning. Jefferson countered with two runs in the top of the fourth inning but, SFCC secured the victory with three runs in the fifth inning.

Mackey had two hits and scored two runs in the game. Webb recorded a double and a home run, scored twice, and recorded three RBI. Freshman Rylee Hagens had a double, scored two runs, and registered three RBI. Sophomore first baseman Alexis Gilliland recorded a double, scored a run, and added two RBI. Freshman pitcher Alexis Hughes had two hits, an RBI, and a run scored.

Hughes pitched a complete game - scattered three hits, allowed two runs, struck out five, and walked four.
