SFCC splits four Region 16 games

April 19 Three Rivers Community College at Sedalia

The State Fair Community College softball team split a pair of games with 17th ranked Three Rivers Community College, claiming a comeback win in game one 8-7. SFCC scored a pair of runs in the final inning to claim the upset. Three Rivers won game two 14-4 in five innings at Mandy Thomas Field inside Centennial Park on Tuesday, April 19. The games were part of the Region 16 and Missouri Community College Athletic Conference schedule for both teams.

In game one, sophomore first baseman Alexis Gilliland had two hits, a run scored and an RBI. Freshman Alexis Hughes also had two hits and an RBI. Freshman Makinzi Harris hit a crucial home run and added three RBI. Sophomore catcher/second baseman Haley Mackey recorded a double, one run and an RBI.

Freshman pitcher Kennidi Harris picked up the victory and gave up seven runs (five earned) on nine hits, struck out six, and walked five.

In game two, the SFCC offense was held to five hits, three of which were home runs from Rylee Hagens,  Kelsey Webb and Mackey. Hughes added a double and an RBI.

Sophomore pitcher Sadie Kumm got the start  and pitched two innings and allowed six runs on seven hits. Sophomore pitcher Tabitha Imhoff relieved Kumm and pitched 2 1/3 innings, gave up seven runs on eight hits. Hughes pitched the final two-thirds of an inning and gave up one run on one hit.

April 22 Metropolitan Community College at Sedalia

SFCC (11-27) split a doubleheader with Metropolitan Community College, losing game one 8-5, before winning 3-0 in game two at home Friday, April 22.

SFCC put up five runs in the final two innings, but the rally fell short. Webb led the SFCC offense with two hits, including a double and two RBI. Mackey and sophomore outfielder Ellie Eckert each recorded a triple, with Eckert adding an RBI.

Freshman pitcher Kennidi Harris got the start and allowed eight runs (five earned) on nine hits and struck out two.

In game two, freshman Kailei Allen, Ekert and Hagens had two hits each.

Allen, Mackey and Gilliland had an RBI each in the game.

Hughes pitched a complete game in the victory for SFCC, allowed four hits, no runs, and struck out three.
