SFCC splits four region games

April 15 North Central Missouri College at Sedalia

State Fair Community College (SFCC) dropped a pair of Region 16 games by scores of 7-3 and 3-0 to North Central Missouri College at Mandy Thomas Field inside Centennial Park on Friday, April 15.

SFCC used home runs from freshman Rylee Hagens and sophomore first baseman Alexis Gilliland to provide all the offense for SFCC in game one. Hagens had one RBI and two hits. Gilliland had two RBI and totaled three hits in the game. Freshman Alexis Hughes had two hits in the game.

Freshman pitcher Kennidi Harris went the distance for SFCC and seven runs in the game (six earned) on 12 hits and struck out four.

In game two, the SFCC offense was held to just one hit, a double from Gilliland.

Sophomore pitcher Sadie Kumm pitched a complete game for SFCC and allowed three runs (two earned) on seven hits and struck out three.

April 16 St. Charles Community College at Sedalia

SFCC (9-25) swept a pair of Region 16 and Missouri Community College Athletic Conference games from St. Charles Community College, 12-3 in six innings and 11-3 in five innings at home on Saturday, April 16.

In game one, Hagens led the SFCC offense with four hits, including a double, two triples, and a home run. Hagens recorded a team-high five RBI and scored a pair of runs. Freshman Makinzi Harris had three hits in the game, including a home run, two RBI, and two runs scored. Sophomore second baseman /third baseman Kelsey Webb had two hits, including a double. Sophomore catcher/ second baseman Haley Mackey hit a pair of home runs and three RBI. Sophomore outfielder Ellie Eckert contributed a double and one RBI. Freshman Lauren Strange also had an RBI in the game. As a team, SFCC totaled 17 hits in the contest.

Freshman pitcher Kennidi Harris went the distance for SFCC. Harris gave up three runs and struck out eight in the contest.

In game two, SFCC kept their offense rolling with 14 more hits as a team. Mackey led the offensive attack with four hits, including a home run, two RBI and three runs. Hagens had a pair of hits, including a double, and three runs. Freshman Alexis Hughes had a pair of hits, including a double, and two RBI. Gilliland also had a pair of hits, including double. Freshman Kailei Allen added a pair of hits and two RBI.

Kumm pitched a complete game for SFCC, allowed three runs, (one earned) on three hits, and struck out one.
