SFCC wins three of four games, sweeps home opener

March 29 North Central Missouri College at Trenton

The State Fair Community College Lady Roadrunners split a pair of Region 16 contests against North Central Missouri College, losing 8-3 before winning game two 7-4 in Trenton on March 29.

In game one, sophomore catcher/second baseman Haley Mackey had two hits, including a double, and two runs scored. Freshman Jacqueline Klein registered a double and three RBI. Sophomore infielder Kelsey Webb, freshman Alexis Hughes, and sophomore first baseman Alexis Gilliland each had one hit. Hughes also scored one run.

Sophomore pitcher Sadie Kumm got the start and pitched 4 2/3 innings, allowed eight runs (four earned), and struck out one. Sophomore pitcher Tabitha Imhoff pitched 1 1/3 innings and gave up a hit and a walk.

In game two SFCC, Freshman Makinzi Harris had two hits, scored twice, and had one RBI. Klein also had a pair of hits and three RBI. Freshman Kalyn Smith contributed two hits and two RBI. As a team, SFCC had nine hits.

Freshman pitcher Kennidi Harris started for SFCC and gave up four runs (two earned), and struck out five.

April 2 East Central College at Sedalia

SFCC (5-17) opened the home portion of their schedule with a doubleheader sweep, winning 18-9 in five innings and 19-9 in six innings over East Central College at Mandy Thomas Field on April 2. SFCC hit a total of eight home runs.

The SFCC offense broke open a close game with 10 runs in the bottom of the fifth to put away game one. As a team, the offense totaled 18 runs on 17 hits in the contest.

Freshman Rylee Hagens led offensively with four hits, two of which were home runs. Hagens scored five runs and three RBI. Mackey had three hits, including a home run and a double, to go along with three runs and three RBI. Freshman Makinzi Harris had three hits, including a double and a home run, to go along with four RBI and two runs. Freshman Hallie Russell had three hits, two runs, and an RBI.

Freshman pitcher Kennidi Harris tossed a five-inning complete game to pick up the victory. Harris gave up nine runs (three earned) on 11 hits and struck out six.

In game two, SFCC scored 19 runs on 15 hits, with 13 of those runs coming in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Hagens scored five times and had three hits, including a double, a home run, and two RBI. Webb hit a home run and a double. Webb scored three times and added six RBI. Mackey had a pair of hits in the game, scored twice, and two RBI. Freshman Paige Clines hit a home run and added three RBI. Smith hit a home run and added three RBI. Freshman Kailei Allen had a pair of hits. Freshman Tomi Lightle had a pair of hits and scored twice.

Hughes got the start for SFCC and allowed seven runs (five earned) on five hits in two innings. Imhoff came out of the bullpen with SFCC trailing in the top of the third inning to help shutdown East Central.

Imhoff picked up the win in relief. Imhoff pitched the final four innings, allowed two runs on seven hits, and struck out two.
