Lady Roadrunners softball team opens Region 16 schedule

March 13 - Crowder College at Neosho, Missouri

Lady Roadrunners dropped two games to 16th-ranked Crowder College 9-0 in six innings and 10-5. The doubleheader was part of the Region 16 schedule.

In game one, the SFCC offense was held to two hits. Freshman Lauren Strange recorded one hit. Sophomore catcher/second baseman Haley Mackey had the other hit.

Sophomore pitcher Sadie Kumm pitched a complete game.

In game two, SFCC got home runs courtesy of sophomore second baseman/third baseman Kelsey Webb, freshman Paige Clines and freshman Rylee Hagens. Sophomore outfielder Ellie Eckert had a double. Hagens had a pair of RBI.

Sophomore pitcher Tabitha Imhoff started and pitched 1.1 innings and allowed one run on three hits. Freshman pitcher Alexis Hughes pitched 4.2 innings, allowed nine runs, six of which were earned on nine hits, and struck out three.

March 15 - St. Charles Community College at Cottleville, Missouri

SFCC split a Region 16 doubleheader with St. Charles Community College, dropping the first game 8-4, and bouncing back to win 6-4.

In game one, sophomore first baseman Alexis Gilliland had a pair of hits, one of which was a double, and two RBI. Clines had two hits, including a double and an RBI. Mackey added a double.

Kumm got the start and pitched four innings, allowed five runs on six hits, and struck out one. Imhoff pitched the final two innings in relief, allowed three runs, only one of which was earned on six hits, and struck out one.

In game two, Hughes had three hits and two runs scored. Freshman Hallie Russell had a pair of hits and a run batted in. Freshman Jacqueline Klein had two hits, including a double and two RBI. Freshman Makinzi Harris hit a home run and two RBI.

Hughes went the distance in the circle to pick up the victory. She allowed three earned runs, struck out four and walked four.

March 16 - Three Rivers Community College at Poplar Bluff, Missouri

SFCC lost 5-3 and 8-0 in five innings to the 15th-ranked Three Rivers Community College Lady Raiders. The doubleheader was part of the Region 16 schedule.

In game one, Hughes had a hit and a run scored. Mackey had a hit. Klein recorded a double and an RBI. Russell added a hit. Sophomore utility player Kailee Liles had a hit and a run scored. Strange scored a run. Webb recorded a run batted in.

Imhoff got the start in the circle and went the distance, allowing five runs on eight hits.

In game two, the SFCC offense could not produce any hits. Sophomore utility player Olivia Butler and freshman Makinzi Harris drew walks in the game.

Freshman pitcher Emma Schouten got the start and pitched 2.1 innings, gave up seven runs, three of which were earned on five hits.

March 20 - Indian Hills Community College at Ottumwa Iowa

SFCC (2-14, 1-5 in Region 16) fell 5-1 and 10-1 in five innings in a doubleheader to Indian Hills Community College.

In game one, the SFCC offense was held to one run on three hits. Hagens, Hughes and Klein had a hit each in the game. Liles recorded an RBI with a sacrifice fly. Freshman Abigail Green scored a run.

Kumm went the distance in the circle for SFCC and allowed five runs on seven hits and struck out two.

In game two, Webb had a pair of hits, including a home run and an RBI.

Imhoff started in the circle for SFCC and pitched two innings, allowed four runs, three of which were earned, and recorded a strikeout. Imhoff was given the pitching loss. Hughes came out of the bullpen to pitch the final 2.2 innings, allowed six runs on seven hits.
