Lady Roadrunners Softball Recaps April 13-15

April 13 Mineral Area College at Sedalia

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners swept Mineral Area College 13-4 and 29-0, in a Missouri Community College Athletic Conference doubleheader with both games ending after five innings, April 13 at Mandy Thomas Field (Centennial Park) in Sedalia.

Sophomore infielder Alexis Gilliland of Jefferson City had three hits, including two doubles and a home run. Gilliland scored twice and drove in two runs. Freshman third baseman Allie Ferrell of Columbia hit a pair of home runs, drove in three runs, and scored twice. Freshman outfielder Ellie Eckert of Auxvasse hit a home run and drove in four runs. Freshman infielder Kelsey Webb of Oak Grove also hit a home run. Freshman catcher/second baseman Haley Mackey of Lincoln had a double and an RBI. Sophomore middle infielder Summer Collier of Oak Grove had two RBI.

Sophomore pitcher Aleah Paxton of Lincoln pitched a complete game for SFCC. Paxton allowed four runs, three of which were earned on seven hits and struck out two.

In game two, SFCC continued their offensive explosion scoring 29 runs on 23 hits. Every Lady Roadrunner in the starting lineup drove in at least one run.

Eckert had four hits (including a homerun and a triple), three RBI, and five runs. Ferrell had three hits (one double), two RBI and four runs. Freshman infielder/outfielder Kailee Liles of Lee's Summit had three hits, including a double, two runs batted in and scored twice. Collier had three hits, including a double, scored twice and drove in three runs. Webb had two hits, two runs, and two RBI. Gilliland had two hits (a pair of doubles), three RBI, and one run. Mackey had four runs and two RBI. Sophomore catcher/third baseman Brooke Conner of Sweet Springs scored two runs and drove in one. Freshman pitcher/first baseman Catrina Ford of Branson hit a home run and drove in four runs. Sophomore first baseman Samantha Campbell of Clinton had one hit (a double), one run and three RBI. Freshman middle infielder Erica Schweer Russellville scored two runs.

Freshman pitcher Tabitha Imhoff of Jefferson City pitched the complete game for SFCC and allowed one hit to earn the shutout.

April 15 St. Charles Community College at Sedalia

SFCC (15-21) split a Region 16 and Missouri Community College Athletic Conference doubleheader with St. Charles Community College dropping the first game 10-1 in five innings before claiming the second game 7-6 against St. on Thursday, April 15 at Mandy Thomas Field (Centennial Park) in Sedalia.

In game one, Conner recorded the only hit for SFCC, and Sophomore outfielder Haley Berhorst of Holts Summit scored the only run for SFCC off of an RBI from Gilliland.

Paxton got the start in the circle for SFCC and pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up 10 runs, eight of which were earned on 12 hits and was given the loss.

In game two, Berhorst had three hits and one RBI. Webb hit a pair of home runs, drove in two runs, and scored two runs. Freshman shortstop/outfielder Sonni Harper of Drexel hit a home run and drove in three runs. Conner had two hits to go along with two runs and one RBI.

Imhoff once again tossed a complete game in the circle for SFCC. Imhoff allowed six runs, three of which were earned on six hits and struck out one to pick up the victory.
