Lady Roadrunners Softball Recaps April 9-11

April 9 Crowder College at Sedalia

State Fair Community College dropped a pair of Region 16 contests 13-2 and 15-5 on Friday, April 9 to 16th-ranked Crowder College at Mandy Thomas Field inside Centennial Park.

In game one, the SFCC offense was held to just four hits. Freshman catcher/second baseman Haley Mackey of Lincoln, middle infielder Summer Collier of Oak Grovehad and catcher/third baseman Brooke Conner of Sweet Springs each recorded a hit. Freshman shortstop/outfielder Sonni Harper of Drexel had a hit and an RBI.

Sophomore pitcher Aleah Paxton of Lincoln got the start in the circle for SFCC. Paxton gave up nine runs on eight hits and was given the pitching loss.

In game two, Mackey had a pair of hits, including a home run and three RBI. Conner also had a pair of hits, including a home run and a run batted in. Freshman third baseman Allie Ferrell of Columbia also drove in a run.

Freshman pitcher Sadie Kumm of Higginsville got the start in the circle for SFCC. Kumm pitched one inning, gave up eight runs on seven hits in the recorded loss.

April 11 Metropolitan Community College at Sedalia

SFCC (12-20) split a doubleheader with Metropolitan Community College on Sunday, April 11 winning the first game 4-2 before dropping the finale 7-3 at Mandy Thomas Field inside Centennial Park. SFCC honored their sophomores between games of the Region 16 doubleheader.

In game one, freshman infielder Kelsey Webb of Oak Grove had a pair of hits, including a double, an RBI and a run scored. Conner had a pair of hits and an RBI. Sophomore outfielder/pitcher Josie Day of Holden had a hit and a run batted in. Freshman outfielder Ellie Eckert of Auxvasse scored a pair of runs.

Paxton went the distance for SFCC in the circle and allowed three runs on four hits to pick up the victory.

In game two, Ferrell had three hits, including a double and a run. Eckert and Webb each had a pair of hits and Webb had an RBI. Connor had a hit, to go along with an RBI and one run. Sophomore outfielder Haley Berhorst of Holts Summit had a double and a run. Collier drove in a run.

Kumm got the start for SFCC and picked up the loss, surrendering six runs, five of which were earned on eight hits in 6 1/3 innings.
