Lady Roadrunners Softball Recaps March 30-April 2

March 30 Metropolitan Community College at Kansas City, Missouri

The State Fair Community College Lady Roadrunners swept Metropolitan Community College in a Region 16 doubleheader, 10-5 and 12-1 in five innings on Tuesday, March 30 in Kansas City.

Freshman infielder Kelsey Webb of Oak Grove led the SFCC offense with four hits, including a home run and two RBI. Webb also scored three times. Freshman third baseman Allie Ferrell of Columbia also had four hits (one homerun), two RBI, and two runs scored. Sophomore infielder Alexis Gilliland of Jefferson City had two hits, including a home run, two RBI, and two RBI. Sophomore outfielder Haley Berhorst of Holts Summit hit a home run, drove in three runs, and scored twice.

Sophomore pitcher Aleah Paxton of Lincoln went the distance in the circle for SFCC. Paxton gave up five runs, four of which were earned on 11 hits and struck out seven.

In game two, SFCC continued to swing the bat well putting together 12 runs on 13 hits as a team. Webb hit a pair of home runs and drove in four runs. Freshman catcher/second baseman Haley Mackey of Lincoln contributed a pair of hits, including a double, a home run, and two runs scored. Ferrell also had a pair of hits, including a double, and two runs scored. Gilliland had a pair of hits, including a home run, and two RBI. Freshman infielder/outfielder Kailee Liles of Lee's Summit also had a pair of hits, along with sophomore catcher/third baseman Brooke Conner of Sweet Springs. Conner hit a home run in the contest and drove in three runs.

Freshman pitcher Sadie Kumm of Higginsville went the distance in the circle for SFCC. Kumm allowed one run on five hits and struck out two.

April 1 East Central College Union, Missouri

SFCC split a doubleheader against East Central College dropping game one 4-2, before bouncing back to win game two 18-7 on Thursday, April 1 in Union. The games were part of the Missouri Community College Athletic Conference schedule for both teams.

In game one, Webb had three hits. Conner also had three hits, including a home run, a run scored, and a run batted in. Berhorst hit a triple and scored a run. Freshman shortstop/outfielder Sonni Harper of Drexel also drove in a run.

Paxton went the distance in the circle for SFCC. Paxton allowed four runs and struck out six.

In game two, the SFCC offense exploded for 20 hits. Webb led the attack with four hits and two runs scored. Mackey had three hits, including a triple to go along with three runs scored. Ferrell also had three hits and two runs scored.  Conner hit a triple, a home run, scored four times, and drove in three runs. Gilliland had two hits and scored three times. Liles had a hit and scored two runs. Sophomore middle infielder Summer Collier of Oak Grove had a pair of hits, including a double and drove in four runs. Berhorst had a double and drove in two runs. Harper also drove in a pair of runs.

Pitcher/first baseman Catrina Ford of Branson got the start in the circle for SFCC. Ford gave up seven runs, five of which were earned on eight hits and struck out two. Kumm pitched the final two innings for SFCC and struck out four.

 

April 2 Three Rivers Community College at Poplar Bluff, Missouri

SFCC (11-17) dropped a pair of games to the Three Rivers Community College Lady Raiders by scores of 9-1 in five innings and 8-3 on Friday, April 2 in Poplar Bluff. Three Rivers is receiving votes in the national poll. The games were part of the Region 16 and Missouri Community College Athletic Conference schedule for both teams.

In game one, the SFCC offense was held to just four hits. Webb had two hits, including a double and a run batted in. Conner also had a double. Harper had a hit and a run scored.

Paxton got the start in the circle for SFCC. Paxton pitched three innings, allowing seven runs, only three of which were earned on eight hits and struck out one. Freshman Tabitha Imhoff of Jefferson City pitched the final 1 2/3 innings, giving up two runs on four hits.

In game two, Webb led the SFCC offense with two hits and a run scored. Mackey had a double and a run scored. Gilliland had a hit and a run batted in. Ferrell hit a home run. Harper also had a hit.

Ford got the start in the circle for SFCC. Ford pitched 2 1/3 innings and gave up three runs on five hits. Kumm pitched the final 3 2/3 innings, gave up five runs, four of which were earned on seven hits.
