Lady Roadrunners Softball Recaps March 24-28

March 24 North Central Missouri College at Trenton, Missouri

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Lady Roadrunners softball team lost a pair of Region 16 games 5-4 and 9-1 to North Central Missouri College on Wednesday, March 24 in Trenton.

In game one, freshman third baseman Allie Ferrell of Columbia had a pair of hits, including a home run and four RBI. Freshman catcher/second baseman Haley Mackey of Lincoln had two hits.

Sophomore pitcher Aleah Paxton of Lincoln went the distance in the circle for SFCC. Paxton allowed five runs, three earned on 10 hits and struck out three.

In game two, the SFCC offense was held to just one run on six hits. Mackey drove in the only run of the contest for SFCC courtesy of a home run. Mackey also added another hit in the contest. Ferrell contributed two more hits.

Freshman pitcher Sadie Kumm of Higginsville got the start in the circle for SFCC. Kumm pitched three innings, giving up six runs, only three of which were earned on six hits. Freshman pitcher Tabitha Imhoff of Jefferson City pitched an inning in relief, allowing three runs, only one of which was earned. The second game of the doubleheader ended early because of the run rule.

March 26 Crowder College at Neosho, Missouri

SFCC was swept by 16th-ranked Crowder College in Neosho by scores of 17-0 and 12-1 on Friday, March 26. The doubleheader was part of the Region 16 schedule for both programs.

In game one, the SFCC offense was held to just three singles. Freshman infielder Kelsey Webb of Oak Grove had a hit, along with sophomore pitcher/outfielder Josie Day of Holden, and sophomore middle infielder Summer Collier of Oak Grove.

Imhoff got the start in the circle for SFCC. Imhoff pitched one inning, allowed eight runs, seven of which were earned on eight hits. Paxton pitched the final three innings, allowed nine runs, eight of which were earned on six hits and struck out two. The game ended early because of the run rule.

In game two, the SFCC offense was held to just three hits. Mackey had a hit and a run batted in. Ferrell recorded a double. Sophomore catcher/third baseman Brooke Conner of Sweet Springs also had a hit in the game. Sophomore outfielder Haley Berhorst of Holts Summit scored a run.

Day got the start in the circle for SFCC and gave up eight runs on seven hits, walked three, and struck out one in one inning. Freshman pitcher/first baseman Catrina Ford of Branson pitched the final three innings of the game, allowed four runs, three of which were earned on seven hits, struck out three, and walked two. The game ended early because of the run rule.

March 28 Jefferson College at Hillsboro, Missouri

SFCC (8-14, 0-8 in Region 16, 0-4 in the MCCAC) was swept 8-0 and 7-4 on Sunday, March 28 in Hillsboro. The doubleheader was part of the Region 16 and Missouri Community College Athletic Conference schedule for both teams.

In game one, Jefferson held the Lady Roadrunners to no hits. SFCC struck out 15 times. Ford got the start in the circle for the Lady Roadrunners, pitching 5 1/3 innings, giving up eight runs on 10 hits. Ford struck out four batters. The game ended early because of the run rule.

In game two, Webb had a pair of hits. Conner had a home run and drove in two runs. Mackey and Berhorst also had one hit each in the game. Freshman shortstop/outfielder Sonni Harper of Drexel, Webb, Conner, and Berhorst each scored a run in the game.

Kumm went the distance in the circle for SFCC, allowed seven runs, five of which were earned on eight hits, and struck out eight.
