Lady Roadrunners Softball Recap Feb. 28

Feb. 28 Marshalltown Community College at Macks Creek, Missouri

The Lady Roadrunners softball team opened their 2021 campaign with a doubleheader sweep of Marshalltown Community College by scores of 9-3 and 8-7. The doubleheader was moved to Macks Creek because of wet field conditions.

In game one, sophomore catcher/third baseman Brooke Conner of Sweet Springs had a home run and a double to go along with a pair of RBIs. Freshman catcher/second baseman Haley Mackey of Lincoln recorded two hits along with freshman first baseman Reagan Barker of Lee's Summit and freshman infielder Kelsey Webb of Oak Grove. Freshman third baseman Allie Ferrell of Columbia hit a home run in the contest. Webb and Ferrell knocked in two runs each. SFCC offense produced 12 hits in the game.

Sophomore pitcher Aleah Paxton of Lincoln went the distance in the circle for SFCC. She allowed three runs, only one of which was earned and struck out three.

In game two, Webb secured the sweep of the doubleheader with a walk-off walk.

Freshman outfielder Ellie Eckert of Auxvasse led SFCC with three hits and a run batted in. Mackey and Ferrell recorded a pair of hits and scored a pair of runs each. Ferrell hit her second home run of the day and drove in three runs.

Freshman pitcher Tabitha Imhoff of Jefferson City got the start in the circle for SFCC. Imhoff pitched 4 1/3 innings and allowed six runs, five of which were earned to get the no decision. Freshman pitcher/outfielder Josie Day of Holden recorded the victory in the circle. She pitched 1 2/3 innings and allowed one run on one hit.
