Lady Roadrunners softball recaps March 28

The Lady Roadrunners traveled to Hillsboro to take on the Jefferson College Lady Vikings for another Region 16 doubleheader March 28. SFCC lost both games 14-0 and 10-7. 

In game one, Jefferson scored three runs in the first inning and added two runs in the second and seven in the third. Jefferson added two runs in the fourth. Jefferson won the game in five innings because of the run rule. 

SFCC got two hits from freshman Emily Ross. Sophomores Kalee Shumaker and Sarah McAninch recorded one hit each for the Lady Roadrunners. 

Freshman MacKenze Gudde pitched 2 2/3 innings and took the loss for the Lady Roadrunners. 

In game two, SFCC scored two runs in the first inning. Jefferson scored one in the bottom half. SFCC scored one in the third inning, and Jefferson answered with five runs. The Lady Roadrunners added two runs in the fourth, and Jefferson scored four runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 10-5 lead. SFCC added single runs in the sixth and seventh inning. 

Freshman Mikayla Gustin led the Lady Roadrunners offensively with two hits and two RBIs, including a homerun. Gudde and Ross had a pair of hits and an RBI each. Freshman Anna Mae Wilkerson contributed two hits and a run scored. Freshman Madison Harris had a hit and a run scored, and Shumaker added two hits, two runs scored and an RBI. 

Ross pitched a complete game. She struck out four and took the loss. The Lady Roadrunners record stands at 5-19 and 0-12 in Region 16.
