SFCC competes in inaugural outdoor track and field meet

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) track and field teams combined for six top-eight finishes at the CMU Open in Fayette on Saturday, March 19.

Freshman Wyatt Irwin led the Roadrunners earning a tie for first in the high jump with a jump of 1.95 meters. Freshman Ty Lewis finished in fifth place in the 800m run with a time of 2:05.48. Sophomore Zac Anderson finished seventh in the 100m dash with time of 11.26.

Freshman Daylynn Baker led the Lady Roadrunners with a fifth-place finish in the 100m hurdles in a time of 16.92. Freshman Zyaire Robinson placed seventh in the 100m dash with a time of 13.13. Freshman Korry Davis placed seventh in the 3000m run with a time of 13:08.13.

"We're very excited to get outdoors," said SFCC Head Coach Brad Hagedorn. "It is what we are used to.  Ty Lewis was finally feeling healthy and raced well.  Landon Mason just barely missed making the finals in both of his events and had a personal record in the discus.  Zyaire Robinson earned Athlete of the Week for the women's team when she ran a personal record in the 100m dash.  It was a great start to the outdoor season, and we expect our performances to really improve over the next four weeks."
