SFCC earns 13 top 10 finishes at Hilltop Invite

The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Track and Field teams traveled to the Illinois College Hilltop Invite inside King Fieldhouse-Bruner Center on Friday night, Feb. 18 in Jacksonville, Illinois.

Freshman Jalen McGee won the high jump for the Roadrunners with a jump of 2.01 meters. Freshman Wyatt Irwin finished second in the high jump with a jump of 1.96 meters. McGee finished second in the long jump with a jump of 7.02 meters. Irwin placed fourth in the long jump with a jump of 6.50 meters. McGee finished his outstanding meet placing fourth in the 55m hurdles with a time of 8.24 seconds.

Freshman Brandon Allen placed seventh in the 400m dash in a time of 52.90 seconds. Freshman Landon Mason placed seventh in the shot put with a throw of 12.05 meters.

The Lady Roadrunners were led by freshman Daylynn Baker who placed fourth in the 55m hurdles with a time of 9.59 seconds. Baker finished ninth in the long jump with a jump of 4.51 meters. Freshman Zyaire Robinson placed 10th in the long jump with a jump of 4.44 meters.

Freshman Ella Golden finished sixth in the 55m dash with a time of 7.51 seconds. Golden placed 10th in the 200m dash with a time of 27.86 seconds.

Freshman Korry Davis placed seventh in the 3000m run with a time of 13:32.01.

"This was the last indoor meet for most of our kids," said SFCC Head Coach Brad Hagedorn. "We set our training for them to peak today, and we were very successful with 15 personal bests. We are looking forward to wrapping up the indoor season with our National Championships at Pittsburgh State on March 5th. I'd also like to point out that Jalen McGee managed to qualify for the national meet in the high jump."
