SFCC Track and Field competes at First Chance Qualifier

The State Fair Community College Lady Roadrunners and Roadrunners track and field teams continued their indoor season at the Friends University First Chance Qualifier at the Heskett Center on the campus of Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas on Saturday, Jan. 8.

Freshman Wyatt Irwin became the first Roadrunner to win an individual event capturing the title in the high jump with a jump of 2.04 meters. Irwin also finished sixth in the long jump with a jump of 6.34 meters.

On the track, the Roadrunners were led by a second-place finish by Ty Lewis in the 800m in a time of 2:07.47. Brandon Allen finished third in the 400m with a time of 52.73 seconds. Ryan Smith placed sixth the 800m in a time of 2:10.04.

Zaya Dove led the Lady Roadrunners on the track with a fourth-place finish in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.91 seconds. Daylynn Baker finished fifth in the 60m hurdles with a time of 10.58 seconds. Korry Davis finished fifth in the 800m with a time of 3:03.56.

Baker finished seventh in the long jump with a jump of 4.41 meters. Zyaire Robinson placed eighth in the long jump with a jump of 4.17 meters.

"It was an amazing day," said SFCC Track and Field Head Coach Brad Hagedorn. "The competition level was the perfect balance to keep us engaged and competitive."
