Roadrunners Basketball Recap March 8-12

March 8 North Central Missouri College at Sedalia

SFCC fell to the North Central Missouri College Pirates, the 16th-ranked team in the NJCAA Division II Men's Basketball Rankings 73-67 on Monday, March 8 inside the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center.

SFCC led 40-34 at halftime, before the Pirates took a 61-50 lead, the largest advantage held by either team in the contest in the second half. SFCC fought back however, North Central made the plays down the stretch to secure the victory.

"I thought we did a pretty good job of controlling the tempo, but North Central made a couple of big three-point shots with the shot clock winding down," said Roadrunners Head Coach Matt Brown. "We only made eight of our 16 free-throw attempts and that is not going to cut it either. Sometimes in life you have to really look in the mirror and see who you are. I think sometimes our guys want to be someone that they're not. If everyone just does the job they're supposed to do, we can be pretty good."

Sophomore guard/forward Eman Eman of Québec, Canada registered a double-double with 19 points, 12 rebounds and four steals. Freshman guard/forward Naysean Baisy of Seattle, Washington chipped in with 14 points and tied for the team lead in blocked shots with two with sophomore guard/forward Kohen Thompson of Memphis, Tennessee. Sophomore guard Mahamadou Nimaga of Bronx, New York scored a team-high three assists in the game.
