Roadrunners Basketball Game Story January 27-30

January 27 Link Year Prep at Branson, Missouri

The State Fair Community College (SFCC)Roadrunners took on the Link Year Prep Lions on Wednesday, January 27 in Branson, Missouri in the long-awaited season opener for SFCC.  The Roadrunners defeated the Lions by a score of 84-63.

"It has almost been eight months since our team has been on the floor in a game situation," said Roadrunners Head Basketball Coach Matt Brown. "I'm happy for our kids to be able to get a game in. Hopefully, we will have another one on Saturday. We were able to play 13 guys in the game and we had five guys score in double figures."

Sophomore guard Eman Eman of Québec, Canada led a balanced scoring attack for SFCC with 16 points. Freshman guard/forward Lavric Mangala of Nashville, Tennessee contributed 12 points. Freshman guard Chad Kratzer jr of Allentown, Pennsylvania pitched in with 11 points. Freshman guard Jamar Madge jr of Kansas City and freshman guard/forward Naysean Clemente of Seattle, Washington added 10 points each. Clemente tied for the team lead with freshman guard Tavari Eckwood of Springdale, Arkansas, freshman guard Mahamadou Nimaga of Bronx, New York, and freshman forward Sataievior Ayilola of Portland, Oregon who all pulled down four rebounds each. Eckwood also contributed a team-leading four assists and four steals in the game.

January 30 Metropolitan Community College at Sedalia, Missouri

SFCC (2-0) opened the home portion of their schedule with an 85-78 victory over the Metropolitan Community College Wolves on Saturday, January 30 inside the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center.

The Roadrunners led by 17 points in the first half. MCC fought back to take lead in the second half. SFCC made the plays down the stretch to secure the win.

"Normally, if you have a big lead like that you keep the same lineup in the game but, we subbed some guys in just to see what we had," said Brown. "At the end of the day, everybody got to play and we still got a win."

Mangala led five Roadrunners in double figures with 18 points. He also tied for the team lead with six rebounds and three assists. Eman contributed 17 points, six rebounds, and three assists.  Madge also pitched in with 17 points. Clemente pitched in with 11 points and tied for the team lead in assists with three. Sophomore guard/forward Kohen Thompson of Memphis, Tennessee had 10 points to go along with six rebounds and three assists. Eckwood also dished out three assists.
